Think of the children

Recently a bill was passed which would insure children who have no current medical coverage. The bills total cost amounts to $35 billion, a high figure, but when one thinks of the purpose of this bill the cost should not be an issue.

The bill would help cover some 6.6 million children who do not have health coverage. Yet the President is threatening to veto this bill citing that it is too costly. Let me elaborate here and break his argument down, because some people might not see the irony and failed logic or the loss of compassion if there ever was any.

First, the fact that $35 billion is meant to ensure children whose families cannot afford to pay for their health care should be reason enough to give this money to them. No matter what the price, children should have health care no matter what. President Bush just asked for some $200 billion MORE for the Iraq war, yet he says that he will veto this children’s bill because it is too costly.

How dare he say that $35 billion is too much to ensure children? How is it even possible that this man can say this and people agree with him? I am certain that if some of these kids do not receive money for health coverage some of them will suffer life long illnesses or possibly death because their parents are unable to afford to take their kids to see a doctor.

How can someone deny a child health coverage? This is what this president has done. Not to mention how horrible health care in this country is anyway, people having to make enough money to be able to see a doctor. Pay for health insurance and still pay out of pocket for life saving, or elective procedures. If I get picked up by an ambulance I have to pay for it. How ridiculous is that, peoples health in the USA is for profit. These insurance companies make a profit from people’s misery by refusing to pay for their medical bills. But I digress…

So far, by some estimates this war (Iraq) has cost over a trillion dollars, yet $35 billion cannot be made available, according to the president to make sure 6.6 million children can go see a doctor.

This man has no compassion; he does not care about people who struggle on working in minimum wage jobs to support their families. Or even people who are middle class struggle to afford heath insurance for their family. He does not care that more and more people drop into poverty and cannot in turn afford health insurance for their kids or themselves. However he does believe $200 billion will help win the war, on top of the $380 billion he asked for earlier in the year not to mention the other billions of dollars that are spent every day on this war.

And what bothers me is there is no outcry, people do not seem to care one bit, and they do not seem to put two events together. He vetoes a bill to insure children; the next day he asks for $200 billion for a war so more and more people can die in Iraq. I don’t understand how people can still support this man.
